You might recognise these two wonderful young men from the Pride of Britain Awards. Together good friends Hughie and Freddie are taking on the challenge of running 100km around 92 football pitches in The Premier League and EFL (English Football League).

The idea behind the challenge is to provide funds for slushy pouches for all the children’s oncology wards across the country as these give young cancer patients a welcome treat and also soothe the mouth ulcers which can be caused by their chemotherapy.

Hughie is currently being treated for leukaemia in his hometown of Manchester. He goes in for chemotherapy once a month and is on daily medication. As Freddie says, “Hughie is being incredibly brave and has faced it head on without any moaning. He's had over 50 blood tests, numerous scans and trips to theatre and he's still smiling and entertaining the staff on the ward. Everyone is so proud of his positive attitude and resilience to everything that has been thrown at him, what a superstar!”

Together they are raising money for 17 cancer units across the country and at the moment they are raising money for Oxford Hospitals Charity. They have visited MK Dons, Wycombe Wanderers, and Northampton Town with Swindon Town and Oxford United to follow in the new year – we will keep you posted on the date!

They are nearing an overall total of £300k with over £1400 raised for Oxford Hospital Charity so far - which is just mind blowing!!

Hughie’s treatment plan finishes in 2024, when they are hoping to have their final run somewhere very special to mark the occasion!

Keep running boys and thank you for all you are doing. If you would like to donate to their Just Giving Page please click here
