Our Charity Our Latest News London Marathon Superstars Congratulations to the 14 incredible runners who took on the mighty London Marathon on Sunday in support of Oxford Hospitals Charity. With perfect running conditions, the team conquered the iconic 26.2 miles through the capital, cheered on by friends and family who made the journey to London to support them. Together, they are well on their way to raising an amazing £50,000 for services across our Oxfordshire hospitals, including cancer care, the Oxford Heart Centre, The Silver Star Maternity Fund, and Oxfordshire I.M.P.S “A special mention goes to Cris Ciotti, who achieved the fastest time in the group with an impressive 3 hours 24 minutes. Meanwhile, Mark Swadling currently leads the fundraising efforts, having raised an outstanding £10,700. Each runner had their own personal reason for taking on this challenge, and we know the day was filled with emotion, determination, and adrenaline from start to finish. Nick Ellis said, "I found the run really tough, it was warm, and there were more uphills than I remember! The incredible crowd kept me going, though. I'm incredibly grateful to Oxford Hospitals Charity and I.M.P.S for giving me the opportunity to run and fundraise for such an amazing cause." Ava McGinn said, "The atmosphere was something i'll never quite be able to put into words. My knees definitely had other opinions by the end, but crossing that finish line knowing i'd done it for the Children's Hospital made every step worth it." James Hannelly said, "I was running in memory of my sister Leann and to support the amazing work of the charity, and that made me dig deep and get the race done!" Claire Hughes, Events Officer at Oxford Hospitals Charity, said, “Thank you to every single runner for choosing to support us – it means so much. The team have been wonderful and has raised an amazing amount of money which will be invaluable to our hospitals and wider services.” If the team have inspired you to get your trainers on, why not join our Oxford Half team this October?
