As a teaching Trust that is partnered with the University of Oxford we are proud of the important medical research that comes out of our hospitals and we continue to act as a significant source of funding in this area.
In some cases the charity offers seed funding to allow a research project to gather enough evidence to apply for larger external grants.
Other projects have a longer term commitment thanks to the generosity of committed donors.
Many members of hospital staff have been supported with additional specialist training and education to help keep them at the forefront of medical practices.
Patients benefit greatly from the advanced techniques and latest research gained through these courses and seminars.
Training and education of this sort can also help with staff morale and retention – two key issues within the NHS.
Many of our charity supporters have a strong wish to thank the hospital staff who have made a difference to them and their families.
Through their donations we are able to make hospital areas more comfortable for staff, providing rest areas, drinks facilities and other simple enhancements.
Some funding is also used for specialist counselling and to provide extra support for our dedicated clinical staff.
Providing cutting-edge equipment – such as the latest scanners, monitors, lasers, ultrasound and imaging technology – is central to our charitable role.
In addition creating a more welcoming and comfortable hospital environment can make a huge difference to patients and their families.
Art and music throughout the hospitals, refurbishment projects and some specialist counselling projects are provided by the charity to enhance the patient experience.
