Since the arrival of COVID-19, strict restrictions around hospital visiting has left many patients feeling lonely and vulnerable. Prior to lockdown, we funded live musical performances across our hospitals which boosted the morale and wellbeing of both patients and staff.
While the live ward concerts were paused, modern technology provided a worthy solution to our problem.

The introduction of tablet devices meant that the show could go on, and live performances were beamed direct to the bedsides of patients. With every personalised session, each patient can choose a live rendition of a song of their choice. We‘ve heard everything from Abba to Handel, Gershwin to Van Morrison!

‘What you’re doing is making such a huge difference and gives so much pleasure. I can’t thank you enough,’ one grateful patient told us.

Our Music on Wards Programme continues to bring comfort and joy to patients – offering a song and a chat using modern technology is such a boost at a time when our social connections have been severely limited.

Help us continue our full programme supporting older patients with music, art, and activities as well as creating dementia-friendly spaces in our hospitals.

Thank you so much for giving us all something to sing about!
